shading/texturing?
 
hi, im a newb, but i am tryin to make a 3d logo for a website my friend and i are making. (i'm doing graphics w/ photoshop and wanted to make a kewl banner w/ sum 3d elements) hence i used maya to make this:

i'm unsure of how to add decent texture/color to objects. can anyone give me an overview? or perhaps where to find one? i am trying to make it look simlar to this one:

well, first off, who made that, and why cant they make it again?Second of all, why cant you just make it in Photoshop?

Make the texture you want in PS. Right click on the object, (or selected faces) and go down to Materials > Add new Material. Click the box next to the color slider, and choose File from the popup. You can then change it further by changing the diffuse, reflectivity, ambiance, ect.

i don't have a clue of who made the original logo - i'm copying it:D but ok, ill try making textures in ps, thanx.
