howdy folks just wanna say what an amazing site and community u have here. it's been a great help over the last few days since i began this learning experience..

however i do have a question..i have maya 5.0 and it would appear i am using a tutorial that was intended for 1.0.. everything is pretty much the same on the surface with a few minor exceptions..i'm currently working with ik handles i have set the sticky option as suggested in other posts and toggled on and off the other settings trying to make them work correctly.

when i set the handle it moves the entire limb but the handle remains where i had wanted it..i'm thinking this is a problem now going back to how i set up the skeletal system i had problems then to thought i had overcome that little glitch but here i am
i'll enclose pictures in this psot or the next ..any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance

scenario_killer,

Have you checked to make sure that your rotation axis are set properly for each joint in the chain? Also what type fo ik are you using, SC or RP? You also don't need to set sticky in creation, you can set it later if your character needs it.

What view are we looking at here, if you could maybe get a few other views up too. Oh and I'd check what your IK Blend value is after you created the IK handle. Just a few things to check and suggestions.

thanks for gettin back to me InvaZimm..
this was a front view and it was SC.. i tried working with them in a seperate skeleton and managed to get them workin pretty much the way i had wanted them but that was without binding skin and such..but i'll go back and give your a suggestions a whirl..i figured i'll just work on the simply maya tutorials for now and leave the joints till i can model decently..
thanks again Zimm.

not sure if I'm understanding the issue correctly, but one thing you may need to do is make sure the Sticky option is turned on for the IK Handles.
