how do i make a boat
 
ive done a cube spread it out to a flat base how would i make the boat shape of the bottom bit?

I would have started with a spline curve and duplicated them then loft it for the boat hull. Then if needed add some Isoparms and munipulate them!

Go to Create CP or Ep curve then draw out the spline

press ctrl + d to duplicate then w to move

ok how do u aline the cube so its on the grid lines so it all measures out right thx for replys guys

also does the object have to be above the grid or can it be below and above

I am not sure of what you are asking? If you want to alighn with the grid you could use grid snap.

Also the oblect can be anywhere you want. The grid is just for reference.:cool:

It sounds to me that you should try the tutorials that come with Maya in the F1 help... they can really help you with the basics.
