Making Video Question
 

Hey Everyone,

Quick question. If my ultimate goal is to make an animated music video, how do I deal with the following issues:

- Having a single piece of music playing across several scenes?
- Linking scenes together (I'm sure this is somewhere in a tutorial).
- Finalizing the piece to a format that can be put onto a DVD/Website.

I guess I don't want to move forward in a certain way if I cannot accomplish my ultimate goal.

I initially wanted to create AVI files within MAYA and import them into Studio8, but I'm hearing that the AVI functionality in MAYA isn't its strong suit.

Can Studio8 import image sequences?

1. Batch render your scene(s) as images and combine the sequences together in some software. Either Freeware or pro like After Effects if you have it. Add the music after the video has been edited together in the same software.

2. Just render each scene/file and combine later, as mentioned above.

3. Not to sure about DVD format but .avi should be fine for the net. [SIZE=1](Watch the file size though)[/SIZE=1]


The AVI render in Maya is rubbish, just use .tga and combine.

If you can get the song as a wav, you can just drag it into Maya's time slider to hear it while it plays.

Almost what z1m said, and more like what Mike said.

1. FILE > IMPORT and choose your sound file.
2. Right click on the time line and choose SOUND > Your Sound File. This will load your sound file into Maya's time line.
3. Animate

If you're animating to the music, you'll want to cut the music into different sections so you dont have to animate to the entire song. First of all, it's unnecessay, second, it could be rather hefty on the file sizes.

4. After you've completed all of your shots, import them along with the original music track into a package like After Effects (its what I use).

5. Load the music track and composite the shots accordingly to the music.

That's a simple version of it.
