some of the faces you're trying to bridge to/from must have reversed normals. Fix that and it should work fine.

To see which ones are wrong go to Lighting in the viewport menu and uncheck 2-sided lighting. The reversed ones will show up black.

iv done what u said and the face (nose and mouth part) has shown up in a darker tone. however i dont understand what u mean by reversed normals.

iv opened up the attribute editor and have a list of choices as long as my arm.

polysplitring1...polyUnite1...polyExtrudeEdge2...p olytweak...polyshadingGroup...lambert1

Thanks for the help.

you have to remember that polygons are single-sided surfaces. 'normals' are the perpendiculars of this surface. Sometimes normals are flipped and so instead of facing outward they face inward. The problem you had was caused by some facing inward and the others facing outward. Maya was trying to account for this by twisting the bridge.

Anyway, the darker faces just need to be reversed. Select those faces, then go to normals->reverse []

go to the options and change it to selected faces instead of all. After that, all the normals will be facing the correct direction and a bridge tool will have proper results.
