nurbs or polygons?

I want to start modelling a house. What's better to use? Nurbs or Polygons?

And another question:
What's the exact difference between nurbs and polygons, what is the advantage in comparison to each other?

thanx in advance.

1: what you are more used to using.

2: press f1 for a detailed description. NURBS make smooth flowing surfaces and are good for organic, flowing surfaces.

I suggest you start with NURBS as you can always convert to polys. But like i said if you feel more confident using polys use polys.

ahhh. The classic "nurbs or polygons?" question I see every few months. I seriously need to write a universal explaination to copy/paste so I can easily post it again and again to prevent me having to type it all out over and over again.

Polygons:
Easy to manipulate.
Can have their uv's mapped out for texturing.
Have infinite sides.
Surface is made up of vertices, edges and faces.
Are used to create video games. (triangulated polygonal faces only)
Cannot be used as a surface to draw Paint FX on.
Generally easier to use.

Nurbs:
Smoother.
Can change tesselation for smoother rendering.
Cannot map out uv's.
Only have four sides to every nurbs object.
Surfaces are made up of curves. (lofted together you mght say) You modify the curves to manipulate the nurbs surface.
Are not used in PC or video games. (not counting the rendered movies you see)
Are used to patch model. Patch modeling is usually used for very realistic characters.
Can be used as a surface with which to draw Paint FX on.
Boolean operations only avaliable for nurbs on versions 4.5+
Take up less data space.

Ah... it's a little clearer now for me :)
thx :D

And uh ckyuk: I'm so noob, that's it doesn't make a difference for me to use nurbs or poly's :D

I've done the nurbs-house tut. So maybe, I'll start with poly's, just for learning pupouses. :)

And I should RTFM!
*kicks himself*
F1 functions aren't common used by me ;) Just try, try and try a little more, till I get it :)
But in Maya, I should use the F1 function :)
