Blend Shapes Issue...Please help!
Ok, I'm making a character for an animation, and I finished modeling her. I made a few blend shapes for facial animation, but I've run into some issues now. I keep getting 2 problems when trying different things.
First, using the setup exactly as I have it, everything works fine. She does all of the blends. But, her tteth don't move to the right place in the base model like they do in the targets. The teeth are seperate geometry, but parented under the head geometry. Next, after trying to combine the head and teeth into 1 piece of geometry, the blend shapes work perfectly, teeth and all. But now, the base head is translating over to each corresponding target head whenever I use the sliders. What can I do to remedy this? I can't think of anything else to do. Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated! |
Just a quick update.
Instead of wasting more time on it, I just Set Driven Keys on the teeth to get them to go to therer approapriate position when the sliders move. Works swimmingly. But, I'd still ike to see if anyone knows the reason why this was happening, just for future reference. SDKs are easy enough, but it'd be nicer to have the blend shape work with no issue. |
try
tell me if this is clear. you have the head in one geometry (aka one transform node) and every tooth in a single separated geometry.
you have done the blend shape for the head modifiyng the vertex of the head geometry(in c omponent mode) and translating the tooth in the right position (object mode translation). blend shape works with the different relative position of the component (vertex, edge, etc etc) and not with the differences in the transform node (position, scale, rotation). and that is at the base of your problem. try to do the blendshape moving all the vertex of the tooth and not the toothObject |
Ahhhh, I see. I got a bit confused in the main paragraph, but when you summed it up in the end, I went back and read it again, and it made perfect sense! Thanks a lot for your input, I will remember that for future use.
