I'm having a hard time figuring out Curves as I can't make a pointed edge. I'm trying to trace the picture below but can only get curved... well.. curves.. is there any way to make them pointy? Thanks!

You could changet teh type of curve to a 1 linear, but thats going to be very linear, or click on the pointed parts, then press CTRL + V (snap to points) and click on the point again and possibly again to make 3 points on the same spot then go to the next part. That should keep a nice point but keep the smoothness of the curve.

So there is no such thing as the handles like the picture below? That'd be a lot easier:S

No as thats not the way NRUBS curves actually work.

Is there any other type of curves that work that way in Maya?
|
No, unless you want to import the curves generated in illustrator into maya. But you cant edit them int that way.
Its not that hard at all just to add the extra points. Oh yeah ther eare curves that work that way, there in the graph editor, tangent cuves, thought thre not for modeling with, just for animation. |
As gster said, just add more points. More points = more control. I made this incredibly quickly with a nurbs circle that had 15 control vertices. You could probably shave a couple of them off and make it nicer if you spent a bit more time on it.
