Hi

This is my first real attempt at rendering/texturing and lighting and after a long slog im pretty happy. You may have seen my previous attmepts in WIP! I tried to use the I_glass shader but could not get it to work on my mac so I just used basic materials.

Anyone with any points on how to get the liquid looking right and also so that it refracts down the stem and onto teh table like it should?

Thanks so much to everyone who helped me in my other thread truely was a god send and you all make this a great site!

all points crits welcome (tho be kind im very new haha)

cheers
robin

Looks pretty good!

I think changing the backgorund form the checker pattern would show off the glasses better.

What setting did you use in the end?

Cheers

screen shot of the glass settings. rendered with mental ray and final gather

I have a problem when creating environments in that I find it hard to create suitable lighting that successfully shows all aspects of my models and it was almost by sheer chance that this checkered environment and a point light turned out pretty well. Any body got some tips on environments and lighting?

he he, glad you found the settings I posted helpful.

Hae a look into rendering with HDR mapes, you get a good environment as well as some nice lighting

i did gster very helpful! Seeing a set of settings really helps me understand and get more of a feeling for what everything does. Loving modeling anything and everything at the moment and seeing if I get a decent render out of it ha so when i finish my Computer science degree in a year I shall have some form of portfolio to go into the work with.... hahaha

I shall look into HDR maps and might try a couple of tuts that use them (for which I have to email the guy to get the HDR map).

thanks again

well done! looks cool, though in the first couple of renders the light is a little little abit too high i think? or is it just me

looks great though, whered you get that glass material from?

gster123 01-03-2007 12:30 PM

Hey Marlon, I posted up some settings in the WIP section for a glass material.

If you want some HDR images theres a free site that had a good collection to get you going. not too sure of the name of it so a google should help you out.

Cheers
