Partying Daughter Grounded, Foot Nailed to Floor

PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - A Cambodian mother took drastic measures to stop her party-loving 13-year-old daughter from going at out night -- she nailed her foot to the floor, officials said on Wednesday.

Mao Savoeun, 36, from Kompong Thom province in central Cambodia, told police she was angry with her daughter for going to a party at a local pagoda during last week's Water Festival, the annual knees-up in the war-ravaged southeast Asian nation.

On the girl's return, and after she went to sleep, her mother drove a two-inch nail through the top of her right foot, pinning it to the floorboards.

"We educated her about human rights and she was shedding tears, but this is a crime and we are going to send her to the prosecutor who will decide whether to charge her," local district chief Srey Puthy told Reuters.

Bit drastic maybe?

Here's another explanation

The mother had heard someone talking about Simply Maya and the great Maya tutorials on the internet. She wasn't sure about what she had heard but she wanted to try anyway. She remembered this one sentence:

- Ok. Let's see... "First select the floor and then the foot. Then select Constrain -> Point..."
- Umm... Wait a sec! I don't have a computer and whatta heck is Maya anyway? I have a better solution.

So she went and got herself a hammer and some nails and point constrained the foot to the floor in the traditional way.

Just kidding...

LUCKY

Hah.. That girl had it easy :)
When I was young my mother used to drive five inch nails in to both arms and legs... up to the walll... just to keep me from coming in contact with the furniture.

Did I mention that I had to live in a shoe box? And I had to eat gravel... if I were LUCKY.
And you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.
