Modern/retro pod racer

Something I started working on last friday, I am further along and have done some serious rework on the engines, basically making each of the engines twice as long. Let me know what you think,
this is for a short animation involving matchmoving, trying to make it fly down the highway,I am doing this for a project for compositing class, take a look at http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26783 for alot more pics. Please let me know if you ahve any ideas or sugestions... Thanks, Brian |

Thanks guys, Brian |
nice job

Lol, that seems powerfull enough!,
..what do you guys say? |
I'd like to see a "cinematic-movie" with this model.
...Look! The exhaust pipes are glowing-hot. |

Here is an updated, I added a cage, and stuff, so that I could have supports for the landing gear.
THanks, Brian |

WHen it lands the props are going to be able to rotate in so that they will clear the ground when it is slowing down...

this is an animation playblast of the set driven key that I have set up for my props. What do you think? Not sure if I even want to use this yet becaues the engine looks kind of wierd with it pointing out... Let me know if you think the idea of having the ability to make the props fold in for landing is good or bad. I slowed down the spining so you could see it better. THanks,

That looks great! I mean I´m not even sure if it´s possible aerodynamically, but it sure would look good. You could even use the Nurbs plane your using as ground when working with LIVE, and setup an expression that regulated this folding. Whenever the prop´s holder get´s near the ground they fold proportionally. (Use the Y axis for this)
|
Yeah, aerodynamically I don't think it would work either, but Thats a great idea as far as making the contraction be controlled by the elevation off of the ground. I will definetly do that, so that when the pod is bouncing around and stuff, it will automatically adjust. Thanks for the idea.
