Can't change render frame rate

Hello guys

I have a quite simple problem, but couldn't fix it yet: Maya renders my avi-video always in 29 frames per seconds, even if I change the frame rate at Windows / Settings/Preferences / Preferences / Settings / Time. Why does Maya always render my sequence at this frame rate and not at the frame rate I indicated in the settings?

I'm not sure, but it's best practice to render out a sequence of frames and then composite them together in after effects or premier or virtualdub (free alternative).

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you are probably right. I solved the problem now by changing the frame rate with a program downloaded (a frame rate converter). It's strange though that the frame rate seems to be fix in maya for rendering.
