Make 4 circular holes in square face.

How do I make four circular holes, all the same size, in the square face of a cube? The only way I can see to make holes in it is to duplicate the face of the cube, and use it to make the holes. Obviously, the hole made will be square, not round. It would be difficult to position the hole correctly, also, which I do not like.

I figured I could make a seperate circular face in advance, position it where I wanted it to be, then proceed with the process, but the second face has to be a duplicate of the original object appearantly.

What on earth can I do?

make live

just make em live then draw the circles with your fav line tool.

I haven't the fainted clue as to how to do that.

Ok, I made the cube live, drew the curve, and now what? I can't use the curve to make a hole. What good is it?

select your model and go to..
Modify > Make Live
you'll notice it turns to wireframe mode and the wires are green.. that means it's live.. select the CV curve tool.. (or whatever you want..) and draw on your model..
when you've finished drawin' your curve go to..
Modify > Make Not Live
your model will return back to normal..

Then what? Trim?

Or you can just do a quick Boolean ;)

don't see anywhere written anything about what you usin'.. nurbs.. poly..
i'm guessin' poly cause you mentioned square holes..
if it's nurbs you can trim away.. otherwize if it's poly.. you can make a poly cylinder and use the boolean tool (located in the Polygon menu..) select your model and then the cylinder and perform a Difference.. the cylinder should dissapear along with the part on the model it was intersecting with.. just remember to delete history each time you use the boolean..
:p

Yes, yes, thankyou Darkon and Roman. This will work fine. THANKYOU! I've waited an hour and a half for this answer. Now I can finally get back to work on my project.....

Ok, here's what I'm doing. I'm making a gun and was going to use the "boolean" procces to put holes in the barrel part. (air holes to keep it cool) I created a cylinder, positioned it straight up and down and in the middle of the barrel so that both the north end and south ends stuck out a little past the surface of the barrel. Since the cylinder dissapears every time you do booleans, I decided to duplicate the cylinder and position all the duplicates in their respective places beforehand. Now, I select the barrel of the gun, select one of the cylinders, choose Polygons>Booleans>Difference. It works. I have two nice air holes in my barrel. I repeat the same thing with about 8 of the other cylinders, but on the ninth one something goes wrong. I select the barrel, select the cylinder, Choose Polygons>Booleans>Difference, and the BARREL dissapears. I am left with all the other cylinders staring me in the face. The output window pops up and says "Problem in Resolve NonSolidShell." I cannot get any farther with the creation of the barrel. Help.

try again.. one cylinder at a time.. and delete history each time you do it.. you can have pretty strange effects if you don't delete history.. stuff disappearing.. the function not workin'.. etc..
