hello im currently modelling a spitfire

here is the bottom

now my question is whats the best way to put all the indents where the plates of metal go?

i tried a boolean difference but it messes it up when i smooth the plane out

here is the mesh it needs tidying but any help on this would be awesome!

Your mesh is triangulated for some reason. That's a sure headache. You can get handy with the split poly tool, or do some booleans and tidy things up with split poly or maybe even use a displacement map /shrug. Either way, I think you should get the shape blocked out better before you worry about details.

i porbably should have actually checked the render before i took it but my mesh doesnt actually look like that its really quite tidy :D

ill get another wireframe pic for you!
