Well ive decided to star a scene to test some renders with mynewly aquired Maya 4.5 :) Ive got Mental Ray and am sill learning how to use it. Ive made a very detailed model of my computer desk, I even modelled the screw thingys that hold on the keyboard tray :D How do ya'll like it then? I'll make a room and TRY and make some decent textures and shaders :)

Hmm, read up on some of Nem's posts and thought I'd try some 3-point lighting setups. Its amazing what 3 lights can do to your renders! This is prob the best render Ive ever produced :D C+C are very welcome :)

looks good...
u might want to add some detail on the monitor ( like buttons)

oh and the base of the lamp seems a bit too big in proportion to the rest of it ..but maybe that how your lamp really looks like...

update, lighting isnt very good :( there is something wrong with the lighting on the cupboard but it has since been fixed, too lazy to re-render :)

that problem on the wardrobe is something I have experience before too. Are you using a directional light? if so you need to play with the DMap resolution, Dmap Filter Size and dmap bias to get rid of those artifacts in the renders. I had a horrible time with fixing this in my last WIP but change a value then see how it looks and keep changin gtill it looks right

:)
