no f8 action, joint orientation-option question
 

Ive made a what i hope is a simple waddleing duck

following the low poly man rigging guide part 1

1/4 of the way though he says you need to correct the root node orientation..

he selects the node goes to display local rotation axies

he then F8's i though f8 was some kinda deselect and ive never used it as my f8 only siwtches to a blue screen with a cog symbol and does nothing else..


any how the tutorial then goes to turn all objects on, with the video this brings up a little purple box its seems so you can select and rotate

ive no such purple box.. where am i going


Im maya 7 with the latest update using a windows pc..
