Hi guys! Here's what I have planned... just hope I have time to whip it up. I'm going to do a small 3D picture of Jack Frost just finishing incasing all the reindeer and Santa in ice. Hope you can see whats going on in the picture, it was done while in the car=).

Just a test, seeing how good I can make an ice cube.. I think it woks pretty well so far.

BabyDuck 06-12-2002 09:34 AM

it is looking nice. the only thing is, it does not look really like solid. maybe you could try some refraction and some kind of fog inside the ice cube.

keep it up

the surface pattern is pretty cool man.. just needs the not so visible touch.. :p

Refrative

And the ball inside has to be distorted by the refraction of the Ice Material....Displacement is also a good idea to add some irregularities to the surface

undseth 06-12-2002 01:08 PM

I know this is an icecube but it doesn't have that chilly/frosted look on it imho.

Shading Network

1 Attachment(s)
Created a small 5 minutes shading network..just to show what i've meant...just a simple poly cube...with the shading network attached

Kurt 06-12-2002 05:40 PM

Bullet it looks great man!!!! When it comes to texturing and shading its my weak point in maya, I never really got into it. In school I mostly focus on modeling and animation. Would you be able to send me the exact steps you did for that look so I can create something on my own that looks like that. I've never worked with displacement maps or shading networks much before. Pretty much newbie when it comes to that.

Dam im amazed!!! I really have to try and work on texturing once my new reel is done.
