Basic question about tumble function

Hi,Im having trouble with the tumble function (alt + LMB) also with selecting tumble from the menu. It gets stuck and will only move up/down, left, right and around. Is there a setting I can look at to try to fix this?

It's ok, Im coping now. If i reset the view panel to default view it seems to work again for a while.
