Converting Maya file into an MP4 file

hey,

can anybody please help me by telling from the scratch how can i convert maya file (.mb) file into an mp4 video file? Would i be needing to export anything?

Gonna have to "batch render" your animation to an image sequence, then bring that image sequence into a program like "VirtualDub", "MPEG Streamclip", or "AVISynth" to convert it into an mp4 format. Since that's all covered elsewhere, just check this link.

How to Render out a Movie - A video tutorial - in the newbie section - in a sticky thread.

Yes first you have to batch render your animation, then you have to import the images to create a mov file or another file if you need. there is lots of applications that could do this FF check which comes with maya but I think will only save to .mov file, Quicktime pro and import using image sequence and After effects will do it too, probably loads more but their what I use.

Thank you all for the reply, the video is really a great help.
The problem i am facing while following the video is that when i am opening the Rendered files from Maya in VirtualDub, it is not automatically loading all the linked segments although the option to do this is checked! There is only one image and hence the time slider is deactivated.
What is wrong and should i be doing :( ?

I use HandBrake to convert videos.

For batch conversion, this tool can help you, as well: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com...p4-to-avi.html

I use Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate to convert mov to mp4. It can convert any video to over 1000 formats at 30X faster speed without quality loss.

Start the Maya application. Select "File" from the menu at the top and choose "Open." In the dialog box, find a project you want to render, select it and click "Open."

Go to "Render Settings." Choose "Multiple Files" for the "Output." From the "File Type" options, choose "QuickTime."

Enter the frame numbers from the timeline for where you want to start and end the render or simply choose to render all of them.

Enter the name for your animation and the location to save it to. Click on the "Render" menu in the "Render Module."

Select "Batch Render" from the options. Maya will render and save your QuickTime animation. Keep in mind that this may take a while, depending on the size, length and complexity of the animation as well as the power of the system on which you are rendering it.
