How do I model this?

Hi mates,
Does anyone know a (easy) way of modelling that bolter(the plate on top) on this speaker?

Thanks in advance!

i think you would probably use a transparency map to make the mesh, rather than actually model it.

well I would if I knew how.....maybe you're kind and explain

Plug a grayscale image into the transparancy slot of a material, and play about with it to see how it works.

Use a grid for the transparency repeat the u and v's alot then duplicate the grid texture adjust/texture the color of the visable part and plug this into the specular color.
good luck:beer:

that's much better - looks cool. with polygons you always have to lay out the uvs. ;)

don't forget to post this in the wip forum.
