Any tips on how to model this?

Hi,

I need to model something similar to the attached image. Mainly the tube expanding out into those tentacle like things, and then into more tentacle like things, then into that giant brain like thing.. (I'll worry about the green dots later on)

Is there some secret to dong this? I've been trying with pretty awful results...

Thanks!

i would use CV curves. then extrude the curves.

AikoWorld is right, or you could try extruding poly faces along curves.

yeah - definitely cv curves - you could also use them for the brain thing.

looks cool! what is it? it kind of reminds of tron for some reason.

Looks like a representation of a neuron in the human brain or something..

Depends on the look you are going for and how much detail will ever be seen of it.
CV's will work nice with nurb extrusions. Otherwise I might suggest starting with a cylinder and creating the amount of divisions you want to have aka the number of tubes you want to come from the one cylinder. You can then extrude each appropriate face along a curve or by free hand to get your desired look. Smoothing would provide a good look or converting to Sub-d.
