1965 Volkswagen Microbus
Started out a few days ago,
Here's the prograss so far: The front: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...T/vanFront.jpg The back: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nT/vanBack.jpg Clay render: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v306/CaptainT/wip.jpg I just need to finish the wheels, windows, side door, extrude & bevel all the parts (so that i could smooth them out), Then i can start on the interior. Here's the current prograss on the wheel: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...T/wheelWIP.jpg For making that part i've fallowed a simple technique i saw on another tutorial. I've modelled a very small part of the wheel, then duplicated it 25 times horizonticly, combined all the parts, merged vertexes and then i used the Bend deformer. The snap-shoots above are the low-poly version of the van, since i hadn't yet beveled anything, the van is not ready yet for smoothing. This is what i am trying to re-create: http://www.gspr.com/blau/microbus.html BTW, this is my first vehicle, tell me what you think of it so far :) |
ha ha - great choice of vehicle TomerM - I must admit I'm a bit annoyed - I was thinking of doing a VW minibus as well! :D
It's looking great so far - the only area that I am not sure about is the front - it just looks a little flat to me. Do they not have more of a bulge? Looking forward to seeing more shots. |
Sorry about that ^^;
Thanks for the critic, i'll work on it :) |
it looks good. no matter how haard i try that damn bend just doesnt work for me but unsmoothed, this still looks good
|
Do you rotate the bend handle 90 degress?
Thanks :) |
nope, i didnt understand what to do with it lol it looked like a knot so i just said ahhh forget it lol

All you need to do is make a Bend deformer and rotate it 90 degress to the X axis. Generally, by rotating the Bend deformer handle, you can tell it to which side you want it to bend. @wuthoqquan: Its a big car modelling video tutorial by Evermotion, which covers up lots of techniques and work arounds to modelling a realistic car. http://www.evermotion.org/shop_display_item.php?item=21 |

Finished the wheels, and made a little bulge on the front. Gona start with the windows next. |
i think its hilarious how you picked falken azenis tires for it. haha
|
Why? What's wrong with them?
|
Nothing much yet, just made the windows...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nT/windows.jpg |
I've started with the beveling.
All successful but i have a problem when beveling the windows: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nT/problem.jpg Here are close-ups before smoothing and after smoothing the beveled windows: Before http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...T/bevellow.jpg After http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../bevelhigh.jpg I have no idea why this happens, all i've done was adding a bevel to the windows. I've tried to the use the Cleanup tool to split faces that are 5 vertices, i've tried merging vertices (in case there are any discconections), still no luck though. any ideas? :headbang: |
can you post a closer screenshot of one of the corners with a b4 and after cause its hard to see the wires properly
|
Problem solved:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...inT/solved.jpg The problem was that there weren't enough edges around the windows to keep them hard-edged after smoothing. So getting back to it, i've tried to add a few edges around the corners of the windows with the Cut Faces Tool, and it worked :) |
