To do this i created a white poly plane for the floor then i set up 4 points of light around the cup. the brightest light cast no shadows and is directly over the cup the other three are set up in a standard 3 point light arangment. add a white background eviroment and finish with a post editor to white out any lines from the poly plane that may show... Taaa Daaa.

another alternative way to do that would be to create a usebackground shader and apply it to the plane as well. Just anoter way of looking at it. Looks good

wow, i did not know you have to do that much to the background. did you use raytracing to make the line white out? (just kidding please dont take it serious)

but what is really interesting that you used 4 lights. wish i had some understanding on how to light up anything i do.

Lights are a main part in creating photo realism. You can learn a lot about lighting at your local public access tv station.
