Is paintfx used in feature films?

I am wondering is paintfx used in feature films?

If not, where is it used professionally?

I suppose Paint FX could be used in a film, electric arc's and the likes in the background where its not to prominant but a studio would probably make a "custom" plug in or app to do it so that they can better conrtol the look.

Studios may be writing a plugin, to get a custom look, or to get a ligher optimized file I wonder.

It is such a beautiful and versatile tool, hope it isnt just as an extra attraction, and is used practically.

I saw some paintfx trees in monster house. You could tell because the all looked the same.

Cool!
Was just considering spending some serious time with paintFx, hoping it was not just another fancy feature.

Thx.

Paint Fx is great, especially when you use it for "different things" say attaching to curves, usin g a bit of mel for animation on them, and even rendering through them for strange effects, and of course converting to polys and modifying them!

i dont work in the film industry but for the stuff we do at work they are an absolute godsend, I think people get put off by them because of the vast settings, but if you persevere, you can get some truly stunning results.

I think its the US company The Orphanage that Ive seen on a demo reel using them for TV ads and other various bits. Plus I think Doug Chiang has had them used in his Robota project...

Try converting them to poly and run them thru Zbrush for more detail and also try using fur for grass!! Awsome!

Cheers
Jay
