Hello,
I have a problems with my polygons:
During my working process, they become strange-shaded...
Is it possible to fix this?

Thanks for all reponses!

Select the object, (and depending on what version on maya you're using, the tool will be in different spots.) Then go to normals--soften/harden and make the objects normals all hard or (0) in the tool options. That will take care of your problems. In maya 7 it's at the bottom of the edit poloygon menu.

Also, keep in mind that unmerged vertices, extra vertices, and non-planar faces can also cause shading problems. If so, smooth/hard=0 will make it look right but it won't fix the cause of the problem.

I perform smooth/hard only if I can't find any of the above mentioned issues.
