is sub d modeling still slow in maya 5???

Correct me if Im wrong, but sub-d modeling was never really 'slow'. Yea, the more complex a mesh/model gets, the slower its going to run. Maybe if you explained more when you say "slow". :)

Yep, it's still the same speed as before. I've started using the polygon proxy mode instead. I'm finding it a lot more flexible and much easier to edit UVs than with subDs (and I was a big subdivision fan).
