What is smooth shift (LW) called in maya?
Hi there, I'm a Belgian student and I'm translating from Lightwave to Maya. In Lightwave you got a tool called 'smooth shift', is there an equivalent to it in Maya?
thx |
what does the smooth shift does in LW...
maybe if i know what it does, i can tell you what similar or if any maya tools does the same thing. |
It's like 'extrude faces' tool and 'scale' tool all in one. Exept when you do the exctrude face the edges come along. Otherwise can you tell me how to 'extrude face' inwards, with the edges?

Hey, I was a lightwave guy myself and never found an equivalent. What I end up doing is hit extrude, then hit the scale button (or "r" to be quick) and then grab ("w") the polygon and move it. It's a bit tedius... I'd like to know if anyone has found a better solution? On the bright side, Maya has way better texturing tools!

thank you for the replies

well, the default extrude face gizmo is a combination of the translate, scale, and rotate tools... I'd think whatever you need to do would be possible with it.

What Mike should have said was, go to the free tutorials section and download his Extrude Face tutorial. This explains the sequence................. Keith |
