I have a few more pieces to add then I will texture. I might light it differently too.

Looks pretty good so far but what's that on the back wall on the right?

kinddoggofwar 28-09-2007 12:25 AM

nice! The chairs seem a bit thick though

banksta 28-09-2007 12:38 AM

thats a piece of wood on the back wall. Yeah I know the chair cushion look thick, but I think when I put the textures on it will be okay.

looks like a good start banksta!

Hey there Banksta,

you've made a good start there I look forward to seeing it lit and textured. One thing that looks odd to me is that the bottles on the second shelf from the bottom seem to be floating, it could just be the angle/lighting but it couild do with sorting.

Take it easy,

Mat.

I just have to finish the wine bottles now. I still am not satified with the render I am using mental ray and thought it would come out more photo realistic than this. Maybe I don't have the setting right.

It’s coming along nicely.

Do you have Global Illumination and Final Gather on?

banksta 30-09-2007 11:14 AM

I tried raytracing production line trace and it looks much crisper and more detailed. It renders slower but I am much happier now.

As far as crispness and bluriness, you can also change your multi-pixel filtering in the render globals under the MentalRay tab. The options in the Filter drop down box will give you some different render outcomes. Check them out. They differences may be subtle but noticeable.

Looking good.
I think that the chairs are out of proportion to the table though. Like if you were to sit down on the chair the table top looks like it would be up around your chest.

I just recieved the digital tutors mental ray workflow dvd and it has a lot of valuable info. I rendered out the scene using some mental ray shaders on the wine glasses. I am using GI and FG on this render. I must say though it looks 10 times nicer the render time is murder. It took 28 minutes to render this out.

antiant 05-10-2007 05:10 AM

Congrats,
This render is looking heaps better.
I think you should turn down the bump on your textures a bit though. It kinda kills the realism of it.
