Looks like someone is trying to imitate a certain software company...

gster123 11-10-2007 01:04 AM

Haha, Maya was that proce when it first came out (cheers Jay).

Yeah thats pretty old news, according to a presentation I saw the guys who developed mudbox are onboard with it and Autodesk are going to try to intergrate the pipeline between mudbox/Maya

Either that, or they needed something to compete with Pixologic's zBrush; Maya doesn't really have the uber-smooth-sculpting capabilities that zBrush has.

I suppose Autodesk is trying to become the only modeling company out there now. I do suspect that prices for their products will increase quite a bit...

But on the bright side, Maya will have some new features, so I guess that's something to look forward to.

boeeeeeee, boeeee, did i say booeeee

Zbrush i tell you, zbrush is cooler and i don't want to hear the word mudbox again ok :p :)

Just joking never tried mudbox, i'm happy with zbrush, ow i guess because i get free upgrades, well hey all the zbrush 2 users get a free upgrade, so why change right.

LauriePriest 12-10-2007 10:42 AM

mudbox is easier to learn, know maya then you know mudbox =)

gster123 12-10-2007 10:46 AM

Thats true but it lacks a lot of the tools that make Zbrush great, texturing etc etc etc....

Mudbox is a sculpting tool, pretty much it, Z'sa lot more complete.

AnthonyCg 14-10-2007 02:20 AM

I'm sure Maya will still be Zbrush compatable--right?....:eeek2:

gster123 14-10-2007 02:28 AM

Yeah, if it wasnt then it would be a massive shot in the foot and I dont think that they would be that daft, its probably going to be more intergrated, say that you sculpt in mudbox then when you import to maya it automatically creates all the disp map set up with the map included on a standard material so all you do's hit render and its there.

AikoWorld 14-10-2007 02:38 AM

isent that nearly the same as zbrush to maya :p

just a couple pushy the buttons and there you go.

:p

gster123 14-10-2007 03:08 AM

not reasly if your using mental ray with displacement maps, theres quite a bit of tinkering to get it going right.

Lets start a revolution to stop this madnes, Alias 4-ever!
