there are lots of ways to model a banana, one way would be to create a nurbs sphere and push and pul the verts until you get the desired look

Isnt there one sort of bananas that is completely straight like that?

But I guess that you should do some beginner modeling tutorials for polygon or nurbs, make them and you can make a banana before you know it.

Best of luck!:)

Looks ok to me.

Maybe flatten the thinner end and then bend it a bit with a non liniar bend. Sorted

well, i have a progress...
i think it's pretty good...
but how i make it look like a real banana [ you know, like a yellow one ] ?
and how i render it in maya 8.5?

yeah - that's looking much better. before you can texture it you need to lay out the UVs - i might try automatic mapping...then you take it into photoshop to paint.

When you open your browser goto google or any other searchengine and type in MAYA 3d tutorials.

I found the 2 following links after a mere 10 minutes search there not about banannas, but quite informative nonetheless

http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials.html
http://www.3dtotal.com/tutorials/

Buying a dvd and/or book is also recommendable, but for the time being i think you have enough with the free tutorials on the internet.

this is a really a good tutorial that explains the basics of laying out UVs.

hope it helps.

i can't find the 'Edit Polygons' anywhere...in maya 8.5
i even don't have 'Modeling mode' there
