Driving animation by way of audio
I'm sure this has been answered in some capacity somewhere but maybe someone can get me on the right path.
What I'm looking to do is drive some animation by music. I saw a tutorial a while ago that started in after effects by using the convert audio to keyframes options, then attaching that to the opacity of a white plane. They rendered that image sequence and pulled it into Maya from there I think they used a plugin to drive the shape of a plane. Is there anyway to do something similar without a plugin? Really all I'm looking to do is drive just the Y scale of a cube from the sound clip. Any help would be much appreciated as always!! Thanks guys! |
If you can capture the music as a graph, you could copy and paste that into the graph editer to Y scale of your cube. Not done much of this but I think that should work.............dave

Download the Maya Bonus Tools from the Autodesk site, they have an audio plug-in that you can use to drive an objects attributes.

Yes, it's called AudioWave. Here's a tutorial for it: http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/duncan/equalizer

Good stuff as usual guys. I got it setup and running unfortunately the results were not all that great. I'll keep tweaking...

Personally I didnt think it would be that great.
There more of a starting point. Motion builder has a similar systme that allows you to do auto lip synch, good starting point. |
I'll definitely take a look at motionbuilder for this, thanks gster123!

gster, Motion builder? I think you mean Face Robot.
