UV sets

hey guys, i was wondering if its possible to like have a different texture, one for each UV set on the same model.

for example, if on my model i have one UV set for the head and another UV set for his hands...is it possible to add a texture for the head set and a different one for the hand set, if so how?

does anyone know?

Im not sure exactly what your asking, when you save the UV snapshot and bring it into photoshop you can give them different textures. If you want to use different materials you can save out files of only the textures you want showing and add those to the color map of a particular material.

Yes you can. You can even control them with different shaders per texture too. Judging by your question I take it you havent done any UV work before??

The Maya help can guide you thru alot of stuff - by the time Ive typed the basic work flow you could have read about it in the Maya Help. Check it out

cheers

I can't seem to get to grips with these UV sets myself. It seems I should have created the sets before laying out all my uv's and can't find any info on transferring already laid out UV's to a new set.
I have so many object in my scene laid out that some of them need their own 2048x2048 square so that they aren't too pixelated in a close up render.

There is a UV set editor Rhet...I have quickly had a look...so you should be able to UV then apply that UV to a new set/layer? Maya help file explains it a bit...sorry mate dont have time to investigate yet.

Seems like no matter what I do, I get either a syntax error or a parsing error, or only a few uv's will copy into a set (when I can actually get it that far) then I cant get the rest of what I want in that set there... this is quite the pain in the butt. Wish there was a tutorial on doing this! haha

Just use shaders to control your uvs, looks like the easest way.........dave

Hamidz.

Have you already made seperate uv sets for head and body parts. Is it possible for you to post a pic of the sets in uv texture editor. Will help to understand and solve your problem.

Mahesh
