Aug/Sept - Noob - Blomkaal

I think I'd better try this one out! :)

Since some scientists believe that the dinosaurs evolved into birds, I'm going for a flying dino, and I think I'll be using this drawing I found of Pegasus as an inspiration:

EDIT: image removed... What was I thinking?! :)

I don't have a scanner though, so I probably won't be able to show concepts :(

What the h*ll was I thinking?! Forget about that sissy horsie!!!

Let me describe it this way:

Neoraptor:
A raptor that has evolved into having wings... If that should in some way be breaking the rules (I don't know if something like this actually existed, or if we're not allowed to use real dino's) let me know, and I'll come up with something new...

Here's the first pic:

Did the basic shape of the body, going to add the arms next...

And here are the pics I've been using for ref's:

And the one I'll be using for the arms and wings:

Ok, first problem of this project:

When I try to convert my mesh into Sub-D's, I get this message:

// Error: polyToSubdiv1 (Poly To Subdiv Node): One or more edges is nonmanifold.
// Nonmanifold geometry cannot be converted to a subdivision surface.
// To clean up nonmanifold edges, use Polygons->Cleanup with the nonmanifold option. //
// Error: Command polyToSubdiv failed. Open Script Editor for details. //

And when I use the Cleanup option it converts, but I get this:

Anybody know how to fix this?

that is usually cause because the verts are not merged together, when you used cleanup it might have seperated them because the surface normals were not comforming ect.

Started adding some detail to the head... Still a lot of tweaking to do...
