Danny need some suggestions!!!!
 

Danny... im having trouble laying out the Uv's... I have added the material, and check mesh. The trouble starts when I hit lay out Uv's....Maya just hangs and dosen't do anything..... Im i missing a step?

When i hit layout Uvs i get the message:

Error: Empty Selection List.

I select the body.

When you hit "Layout UV's" you need to make sure that NO components are still selected, and select JUST the base mesh only.
You'll know you are at the base by the green selection lines.

Not sure if that helps or not, but that took me a couple of tries before I got it too:)
