heres what it looks like when i tryed adding the light ???

One thing I can say is that you probably want to use a point light (or spotlight) instead of an ambient light. Then, it's just a matter of matching your lighting attributes with your shader attributes so the light can shine through.

yeah, an ambient isn't the kind of light I'd say to use in this situation. I also recomend Point light.

Here what i got.

I duplicated the bulb and made it smaller inside the original, and applied a point light to it, the light worked but now the rest of the object is all black.

hmmm if you rested on your default lights (three of'em-non visible), they are turned off when you add a "real" ligth.

mtmckinley 07-02-2003 05:02 PM

yes, you'll need to light your scene normally, in addition to the point light.

I may be misunderstanding the question, but can't you just add some glow intensity?

cavalt 12-02-2003 01:12 PM

This is a little off from your question but, DUDE!! How did you get that realistic glass shader???

try giving the light bulb some incandesance....

Fusion, I figured it out. Thanks anyway through, but i finished the project the light was used for a few weeks ago. :)

Can you post a pic of your result?

I'd love to see how it turned out.
