why wont the subd work with me on polygons??
 

hii guys ,,,iam still a bigginer in maya ,,so i downloaded the (humen form) tutorial from the site but i have reached a place where i just couldnot go more cuz of the subd the guy in the tutorial have smoothed the geometry shape he made in such a good way using SUBD but it just wouldnot work with me why is that ?:confused:

Modify>Convert>Poly-to-SubD

If it doesn't work try...

Polygon>Cleanup, in the options select clean non manifold geometry
Check for extra hidden faces, maybe duplicates, though clean up op usually picks up on these.
Delete all unused vertices.
Sometimes if the problem area persits, I find it easier to delete the surrounding faces, and recreate them using the append polygon tool, this will fix it.

when you convert to subd's and doesn't work, it will be shown a message in the lower right side of the screen (in red). if you click the button right next to it it will expand a window where you can read the explanatoin of the error and some tips on what you can do to repair it.

hmmmm thxx guys ,,i i'll try it all hopefully it'll workk ,,,but why are we converting from nurbs to polygons then converting again to subd i mean why didnt we directly did it nurbs =>subds

and would Grease subd icon work on a polygon?
