Lighting noob
 

Hey guys, I'm struggling to light up an 'emergency fire exit' style light. I'm wanting it to light up the insides and emit a reasonable amount of light outside of itself as well. At the moment all I'm getting is the whole scene lighting up. Any ideas>?

well if the light is inside the box and you turn on cast shadows then you shouldn't get any lighting in your scene but it should illuminate the inside of the box (and the exit portion i'm assuming) fairly well... but wouldn't it be a better idea to instead create a texture for the word 'exit' and put on some incandescence, then put a reddish point light (with a fairly low intensity) outside?
