Need help with brushed metal texture mapping !

hi everyone,

i'm trying to solve a texture mapping/placement problem for a simple metal logo.

I created a polygon extrusion from an imported illustrator curve with bevel plus. works great and the mesh seams clean.

I tried making the logo look like chrome or silver, with a procedural shader or shaders i downloaded online, but it didn't really work out.

now i use a photo of a steel knife blade and it looks great. i have contrast modified versions for bump, specular and reflection and the front face of the logo is exactly how i want it to look.

i can't figure out how to apply this same feel to the edges and the bevels and make it look like it is really a solid object out of one material

any help is appreciated

thanx

Have you mapped the UVs? Try automatic mapping and then sew the UVs in the UV texture editor...

maybe spherical mapping is better to get rid of the edges ?

but its for sure a mapping problem ...
