Planet Express
This is certainly not my first model...
it is, however, the first one that i have shared with you guys. as it is a relatively simple model, I would like any critiques that apply. |

it didn't seem to post my render.

hehe, love this show.
Nice model. No crits. Do you plan on texturing it? |
looks great man, you better texture it :p
you should share more! even if it's bad these dudes always have good dtuff to say  |
A nice model , i have a couple things that jump out at me that you might want to look at .Firstly on the side you have a balcony but there doesnt seem to be any access to it so not sure what its purpose is. Second are those wondows above the balcony ? if so they dont seem to be transparent and also im not sure they should be arched but maybe round if you are going for an express train look .
This is just a preference thing but i think the down pipe on the right should be a slightly smaller diameter. A good model though ..i like it . |
@jsprogg, Those "windows" above the balcony are meant to be arched. I think they're actually the access points to the balcony.
Here's a pic of the building. It's from the show futurama. http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o...building_2.jpg |
Mayaniac...sorry my bad i didnt know it was from a show ...thought it was an original design. I have to say though that they dont look arched on the picture you posted ..hehe

Better view...
|
yeah more of a rounded arch than a pointed church like one in the model and a door to the balcony ;) .
|
You are talking about the ones on the balcony right?
|
yes ..in the pic they are a rounded flattened arch but in the model they are more gothic .
|
Ah, yeah, I see. It's just where s/he's rounded off the glass instead of making it flat. I see what you were talking about.
Taking a look at the reference images I posted, I also thing the banister around the balcony is too tall. |
sorry i did not specify this was not an original work. I suppose I thought everyone knew of futurama.
@mayaniac and acid44...thanks.. and i love that show too. @jsproggi - I see what you are saying about the window arches a couple of things account for this. 1. I simply did not collect enough reference materials 2. The windows in question were the last touch before posting (hehehe) but i will fix them. I do plan on texturing, but as i am a husband, father, primary revenue outlet, and college student (unrelated field), I am not going to be quick getting it done. do you guys think i should do more of a realistic texturing or stick with the toon style of texturing as illustrated by the picture mayaniac supplied? -Rick |
Dont forget the door onto the balcony ;) If it were me i would stick to the toon style as its a known piece of work.
|
yes ok.. i will do the door... but keep in mind that door is on the "back side" of the model from the perspective that i originally rendered
