whats the big thing about max?

guys, i hear that most people are using max, donno why, but most production studios use maya...why?
i think max is cheaper than maya, thats why they use it.

thanks:bandit:

it think its cause Max has the Vray render with it which practically needs no real experience to get good renders for the less experienced user.

Max is simple and yet powerfull. I've originally started using learning maya PLE, than got irritated with the lwatermark they had on renders so i downloaded the 30 day trial for max. After using it for a wail I never went back to maya.

Production studios? err. Yeah maya was originally made for the films i think, Max first game out with emphises on game creation, so all the film companies had to get maya instead. So today the majority of the film company uses maya cause thats what they got used to. :p. Thou if u were to compare the amount of games made with maya to max, then max would be the winner. Anyway max ROCKS!! and maya a little,... from side to side :p

Yeah maybe, maya was once sold for 50 grand. Max has always had the same price.

film studios invest thousands of pounds in pipelines that work with a certain product. E.g. maya. Maya is better than max because for an advanced set of users that need more than just hitting a render button maya is open and everything can be scripted so you can get down to the lowest level in maya whereas in max I dont believe you can (well you couldn't last time I opened max).

Max is good for games companies... not sure exactly why they choose it I think they are comparable on price now.
