Convince Me
Hi.
I am looking around to see if I should up grade my Graphic card. My question is do I really need a FireGL -- I'm an ATI guy always have been. And I use Linux The FireGLs have a good deal going for them compared to lets say the R350s. But I can always soft render particles and then composite them later on. So apart from speed what is that cost benefit? Yup it would be smooth to say I've got a workstation at home, is it worth the trouble? And IF I do end up getting a FireGL which is the best (price wise) and (tech wise) to go with? Thanks |
That depends.
What's your budget? Are you looking for the entry, mid level, or hi-end FireGL card? If price matters, the go with a 128. If not, then splurge for the X2. Worth the trouble? I would think so. When I upgrade parts, it's usually to a newest item so that I don't have to upgrade very often. Im looking to upgrade my vid card soon as well. Still running the Radeon 64MB DDR - which was top of the line when I bought it. Now, Im looking at the X2. Just gotta save those dollars first. :D |
