Codec
I assume most people here use camtasia to make the video tutorials. So how about using the TSCC codec and see what people think of it as the quality is excellent and the file sizes are ok.

the file sizes would be still way bigger than the current ones...
|
we are using divx from now on, this is how we are staying as all dont use camtasia
|
ok
|
so divx from now on? that's good, the wmv ones are a bear on the mac, even in latest WMP 9 for mac, the video halts a lot, frustrating, hear the guy talk about him doing something and you don't see it, having to back up and smack the WMP around a bit.....
ugh! the divx are always great, using VLC to play those :) |

You won't be converting and removing all the older ones, will you? |
DIVX rules! :p

Divx is decent, if you want something that won't mess with your system, use VLC, it should be self-contained, doesn't rely on any system codecs.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ runs nice, tho last time i tried it on windows, the time slider is a bit flaky |
I use zoom player to play everything

I noticed last time I visited divx.com, that when you install the divx codec, it mentions that to offer the codec for free they have to allow spyware and advertising to pay for it. You have to okay it on download. I seem to have gotten it before this but that kinda blows. Anyone know if there's a way around it or if this is simply not the case?
|
i always thought the most basic free/personal divx licence is without the ad/spyware stuff... at least spybot doesn't recognize anything on my computer even when i have divx installed... dunno if it has cleaned something related to divx earlier though...
|
I have the clean version as well. Maybe they added the spyware for all versions now?
