"handtool" in Maya

When I use Flash, I press Space and while I hold it, I can pan around using the mouse (clicking and draggin with mouse to pan, while space is pressed down). When I release Space, I can't pan anymore.

Can I do exactly the same for Maya?

I am currently using Track Tool, but it is a toggled function.

If I understand you correctly, you should hold down the alt button (option on a Mac), and middle mouse drag. When you first started Maya, there was a welcoming window, I hope you didn’t close it. It shows you the basics of navigation in Maya.

I thank you for your attemp to help me, but my idea is to use the exact method that I described: holding Space and dragging with LMB to pan around.

So what you’re saying is, you want the same thing as alt+mmb to be space+lmb? :confused:

Well, you can’t. When you press space, you go into the split screen mode.

You’re just going to have to get used to the fact that almost every program has different hotkeys, ways of navigation, etc.
