Great choice of model, there's too little architecture here imo... |
well, it could have been taj maha as well. it is commonly known in india as just taj. and maha means huge...
not very interesting, i know.. just making conversation. well nick. this one would indeed be difficult project for you, if you intend to get all the details right. the carvings on the taj mahal are pretty intricate.. all the best... |
:)
well its not real closeup, so im hopefull that i can getaway with mostly texturing and bumping. But i guess time will tell. |

two words:
"camera mapping" project a photograph onto the geometry. Doesn't even need to be high res geometry. We did an entirley CG piccadilly circus circa 1939 that way for a film recently. :ninja: A |
really? but, would that let you rotate the camera around?
how does it work? this is a new subject for me.... |
ah yes i have thought of that.. but i kinda think its a bit cheating, I would like to try and create the textures myself.
Although, i might project a quick one on there, just to see what it looks like out of interest :) |

BTW: antiant, its looking good! Cheers Paul |
Thanks BMS :)
Well, uptal, im only planing on doing a still, not any camera rotation. So its wont be a problem if i did the projection. |
It should come out looking great!
I'm going to do a search for information on camera mapping and see what I can come up with. Did you put a bet on the Cup? Cheers Paul |
You just create a projection node, then you drop the node over your colour that is mapped to your object. when you drop over it, it will bring up a menu to ask what you want to plug into, and then you select colour.
Nope, didnt place a bet, gotta have money to do that. Actually got a full time job today back in south australia, as computer/network tech.. so im pretty happy about that. Give me some doe while i work on my show real. |
Lol it's not cheating.. best tool for the job and all that. It also means you dont have to UV map anything!! look at this:
http://www.alanwoods.co.uk/reel/piccadillyWire.avi Look at how low res the geometry is... but look at the final result!!! The only thing that was textured in uv space was the eros statue in the middle of the road (and the cars and people are obvioulsy real! ;) ) Dont waste your time texuring this you'll never finish it :ninja: A |
yea your right.
Im not creating the textures as such. I have found a picture that was simalar to mine, and im using the those textures, and mapping them to my surface. It seem to be working well. Although i really didnt have too much luck with the projection. I havent had enough experience with it. Would be good to find a decent tut on it. |
