Boolean problems
I know this has been posted before, but I've searched for the problem and it hasn't helped much.
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: I have to make a cathedral. I'm selecting both, SHIFT rightmouse, then booleans/difference. Then they both dissapear I need to go from this http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii41/cdw77/i1.jpg TO THIS http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii41/cdw77/i2.jpg Please help soon :headbang: |
What can I say, its an illegal action. Booleans are very sensitive to how you use it, need to set up the convertion carefully.
This is not valid. Thus, it disappear. I dont want to go through step by step because then you dont learn the strengths and weaknesses of Mayas Booleans, work on it and you find out how it suppose to function. |
Im still not sure why we dont have a sticky booleans thread, its such a common issue
just do a search in this section for booleans and you should get some ideas of what you can and cant do. generally I try to avoid booleans for things like this anyway personally id do it by hand using the split polygon tool, combine and merge to get there |
This sux, cause im following a tutorial that a teacher wrote for the class to use.
Obviously something is missing from the tutorial because i cannot further my progress. So idk i guess i'll try to split the poly's and see if i can reproduce what he wants us to do. I used boolean, union and i got what i was looking for :attn: Anyway thx for helping me! |
your teacher wrote it and didnt warn you about booleans?
|
Ya, he just told us we were going to make a cathedral and Gave us the tutorial.
Anyway, i used booleans/union and it worked out great so idk what he was thinkin writing like that. :attn: |
