My first try at a realistic character

Hey geys:)

I'm taking a break from the strange world project. I thought a try at a realistic human would be a good Challenge for me.

I'm modeling a male character. I may need alot of help on this one, we'll see how it goes.

Heres the start of the haed.

C&C are always welcome!

Poly Patch Modelling, would love to see your progress on this. I'm yet to try a realistic character. What references are you using?

Cheers
Paul

Well I don't have any reference, should I?

Heres any update

Man I feel silly answering this question because you've done so much more than me and the fact that I'm probably the least qualified person to give an opinion on this.

Here it goes. I would have assumed you would have used a general reference image to assure you get the general shape right and from there, tweak the character to get the desired look.

A few days ago I downloaded as many face meshes as I could find. Hopefully I'll have a go at making one soon.

Cheers
Paul

BMS,

Thanks for your input:0

Well I do agree that a reference is a way to go. But I guess i'm just seen what I can do on my own. If it gets really bad or something then i'll start over or redo the my character with references.

I'm looking farward to your realistic human:)

Heres a little update.

P.S. don't worry about if your qualified or not. Everyone learns from everyone:) I've only been doing this stuff for 3 years.

vedic kings 05-07-2005 11:17 PM

I just defined it a little bit, like around the eyes:)

I may be flying a little to fast! But really i'm just modeling the basic shape, then I will spend sometime with all the details:)

The eye area looks like it goes in too far.

vedic kings 06-07-2005 12:45 AM

the checks look a bit shallow... how does the general curvature look from, say, the top view to a high angle view?

Falott 06-07-2005 08:35 AM

the first pic you posted was very instructive! just wanted to say you do an amazing job with maya.

vedic kings 06-07-2005 04:45 PM

mhcannon, heres a little high angle you ask for.

Falott, thanks man:)

Well i'm not to happy with the edgelooping so far. So I think i'll use reference and redo the haed.

I'll have updates on the new haed later today:)

vedic kings 06-07-2005 07:49 PM

Ok, heres the start of the new haed using references:)

http://mars.walagata.com/w/vedic_kings/h1.jpg

And the references. I could not find any good haed references of a frong and side view of the same person:( Oh well this will work.
