R@nSiD - Jan/Feb Challenge Entry

My partner was given a wonderful gift of a Puppy Labrador Retriever for her Christmas, from a wonderful and generous person.

<cough> Me

So I think I will model him.

I will get a picture of him as soon as I can, at 8 weeks they don't tend to stand still long enough for you to take one... Ill have to use referenceImages from Giggle...

2nd update added the ear. It is not attached at present but I have aligned all the verts from the ear to match the flow of the head.

Crits as always welcomed

well from here it looks like a dog... don't forget to use picture references, and i gotta admit that it would look better with something hanging out of its mouth... like an arm or the like :P

i dont know it maybe alittle bad taste at the mo.

here in the uk we have a series of children attacked by dogs, (think one died). Maybe give the dog 2/3 heads.

good start though, nice flow going though the head.

yeah - nice start R@nSiD - are you going for a full model or just a head? Also, don't forget to post that picture.

Latest update at 6am this morning (don't get puppies, they are like having kids and wake you up at time you have never seen:p )

gster123 15-01-2007 07:26 AM

Starting to come together now mate, good going.

Are you modeling the whole body?

publicFunction 15-01-2007 07:58 AM

Steve,

Yes the plan is to work on the hind leg tonite for a bit, and get that in correctly. I did a Sub-D on it earlier and it was looking OK. Might take it in to Z and see if I can get it detailed for the muscle structure.

marlonjohn 26-01-2007 09:37 PM

hey chris, the dog looks awesome! looks alot better than the dogs i "tried" to make lol, what else have you got to model out? or are you just modeling out the head only?

marlon

The plan is to do the entire body and head. I am gonna rig him and then pose him looking up with one paw raised (well that's the plan anyway).

Got to finish the front leg and attach it to the body and then its time to detail. The paws are really hard. I am finding this challenge exceptionally hard. Organics is my real Achilles Heal. I have never been able to do it in the 1 and a bit years I have been playin with Maya.

Oh well, never quit, never surrender.

marlonjohn 27-01-2007 06:13 PM

cool, cant wait to see this dog rigged up and raising that one paw... kind of reminds me when a cute little dog wants attention or something in need... lol ;)

"The paws are really hard"

dont worry your not the only one chris, ived had heaps of trouble doing poors of dogs and ived even seen a couple of threads where people say there paws turned out horrible :p

"Oh well, never quit, never surrender."

haha thats the sprit :p
