kbrown 29-01-2004 03:33 AM

Heh, thanks... Ususally I use nurbs to start with... propably will end up with polys as usual... Testing with subdivs in between (like above)...

Small update... I think I'm not going to go too detailed with this one. If there's something obvious missing, please tell me :) (I'm not going to model the landing gear...)

I LOVE it!!!! :)
looks like everything is going smooth as I've looked at some pix of Hornet... the only thing left is to make him a bit harder looking (in some parts of its body), and the texture, texture, texture... it looks like this plane is begging for texture!!.. lol.. ;)
keep it up!

I lOVE the hornet! It's my favourite plane (i was thinking about having a crack at one too!) the thing that's striking me is that some of the edges are too soft as LSphinx says. especially around the tail flaps and the bit where the body joins the tail fins.

You should go REALLY detailed on this one! it would be great! You should model the landing gear and rig it all so that it all works :)

Thanks guys. I was in the air force during my army time too but wasn't too close to the planes (watched them from the radar screen ).

Somehow it turned out to be a difficult task to make it look both smooth but not soft... Still got some areas to fix...

UVs are about done too so soon I get to the fun part -> texturing :)

Couple of wips...

ive tried jets a couple a times but i can never find any good bluprints
were you get them from?

twisteddragon33 30-01-2004 09:05 PM

thats a nice plane. I highly expected to see hybrid in here telling you that you should have modeled an F-15 eagle. Personally i prefer the F-22, or the F-117. Possibly my next model.

Looks great but too smooth in some spots.

Tried to make those edges a little sharper. I think I'll leave them like this and move on to the texturing... Here's what I have at the moment...

Mumbo: I didn't find too good blueprints either. I took the main proportions of one and then mostly eyeballed everything else by looking at a bunch of photos... There's just so many variations of the plane. Mine propably is a mixture of them all :p.

I chose F18 because if I need to, I can drive about 15 kms to see them live :)
