Help with shadow pass please?

Hi,

haven't really done much with different passes before. I'm confused and can't find an answer.

The bottom left image shows a straight render, note the shadows on his right brow and left cheek/jaw.

On the top left is the shadow pass. The area that I thought would be dark is in fact light (hit right brow). It seems inverted. I've tried comping this over the diffuse pass (which appears to have came out fine) in fusion using a manner of modes but can't get anything that works.

Am I missing something or has it came out wrong? Using renderman if if helps.

Any help appreciated,

cheers

are you using maya 2009? ...also what does the alpha channel look like?

Hi hammer,

yeah it's maya 2009,, and there is no alpha channel.

After some internet digging it would seem that this is normal in maya 2009 (http://forum.cgcharacter.com/showthr...?f=87&t=693557).

It seems that for some reason the nature of shadow outputs have been changed.

cheers
