In my viewports my top bar with the View Shading Lighting... etc etc went missing. how do I return this?

its under display/UI elements/shelf I think!

You can do it with the top shelf, or with pressing the spacebar and then the same way...

pretty easy...

press shift+m

Thanks for the quick response must've done it when I was changing the color of the background. (alt-B) but.. hahah that's way away from alt-b <,<
